In the UK it is Easter and all the banks and the London Stock Exchange
will now be shut until Tuesday, with Good Friday and Easter Monday as
bank holidays. Is it the same in the USA?

No, Easter Monday is not observed. The banks will close on Good Friday but
open on Saturday morning.
The stock exchanges will re-open on Monday.

David:

I don't know about the banks (I haven't been in one in years) but the major
exchanges will be closed for Good Friday. I don't know about 'Easter
Monday' but I've never heard of it.

Local bank branches are now open practically 7 days a week, many with
store front offices in grocery stores. Easter sunday a lot of stores
will be closed. But not easter monday (what is easter monday anyway?)

Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday and is celebrated as a
holiday in most largely Christian cultures.

Wiki says it's celebrated in **some** not "most" Christian cultures.
